Rubber grommets are used where wires
pass through holes drilled in the bodywork,
to prevent sharp edges cutting the
insulation.
Cable clips The loom and individual cables are
held to the bodywork by various types of clips.
Ring terminal This alternative to the spade
terminal is used on heavier components.
'Scotchlok' connector The 'Scotchlok'
connector splices two wires together, using a
sharp metal blade which pierces the
insulation. This is clamped using a pair of
pliers, and covered with a plastic clip.
Spade terminal The spade terminal is the
usual way of fixing wires to components.
Crimp or bullet connector The crimp
connector is used for joining single wires to
each other. It may be a single or double
connector, or a multi- connector carrying
several wires.
